A little time, freshly ground coffee and a cafetière. Brewing Blossom at home can be a simple, rewarding ritual.
Also known as a French press, the cafetière uses a metal filter that allows more of the coffee’s natural oils into your cup, creating a fuller texture. Here is a straightforward starting recipe you can adjust to your taste.
Your Blossom brewing recipe
For two cups, you will need:

30g Blossom coffee

500ml fresh water
-
A cafetière with enough capacity

A grinder, scales and timer
Use a medium-coarse grind with an even texture. Start with water at around 94°C.
1. Warm your cafetière
Rinse it with hot water, then discard the water before adding your ground coffee.
2. Add the water
Start your timer and pour 500ml of water over the 30g of coffee. Make sure all the grounds are wet, then leave it to brew for four minutes.
3. Stir gently
At four minutes, gently stir the crust of coffee floating on the surface. Most of the grounds will begin to sink. Use a spoon to skim off any remaining foam and floating grounds.
4. Let it settle
Wait another four minutes. This gives more of the fine particles time to settle, helping you pour a cleaner cup.
5. Pour slowly
Fit the lid and lower the mesh until it rests just below the surface of the coffee. There is no need to press it all the way down. Pour slowly, leaving the sediment at the bottom.
Serve all the coffee straight away, or transfer it into a separate jug.
Make it your own
Use this recipe as your starting point, then change one thing at a time.
If the coffee feels too strong, add a little hot water to your cup. If it feels too light, use slightly more coffee next time. If it tastes bitter or drying, try a slightly coarser grind. If it tastes sour and thin, try grinding a little finer.
Let your cup cool slightly before drinking, and notice how the flavour changes as the temperature falls.
