A little precision, a slow pour, and time to enjoy the result. This V60 recipe is a starting point for exploring Crimson Mirage at home, adjust it to suit your grinder and your taste.
The recipe
-
Coffee: 15g Crimson Mirage | Watermelon Co-Fermented
-
Water: 250g filtered water
-
Temperature: 93°C
-
Grind: Medium-fine
-
Target brew time: 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes
You’ll need a V60, paper filter, scales, a timer, and a kettle—ideally with a gooseneck spout.
Step by step
1. Prepare your brewer
Place the filter in the V60 and rinse it with hot water. This also warms your brewer and cup or server. Discard the rinse water.
2. Add the coffee
Grind 15g of Crimson Mirage, add it to the filter, and gently shake the brewer to level the coffee bed. Set your scales to zero.
3. Bloom — 0:00 to 0:40
Start your timer and pour 45g of water, wetting all the grounds. Give the brewer a gentle swirl and leave it to bloom until 40 seconds.
4. First pour — 0:40 to 1:10
Pour slowly in small circles, bringing the total weight to 150g. Keep the stream gentle and avoid pouring directly onto the paper.
5. Second pour — 1:20 to 1:50
Continue pouring until the scales read 250g. Give the brewer one gentle swirl to help settle the coffee bed.
6. Let it draw down
Allow the remaining water to pass through. Aim to finish between 2:30 and 3:00, but use taste as your main guide.
Make it yours
If the coffee tastes sharp or thin, try a slightly finer grind. If it tastes bitter or leaves a drying finish, try a slightly coarser grind. Change one thing at a time so you can taste the difference.
Swirl your brewed coffee before serving, then let it cool a little. Notice how the aroma, sweetness, and finish change with each sip.
Crimson Mirage. Brew slowly. Taste as Art.
